Don't accept the first price you are offered because the chances of this being the best offer are slim. If you appear very desperate to sell your car then most buyer's will take advantage of this and will not make a good offer.
Unless your car looks presentable you should avoid arranging any viewings. You really have to put some effort into cleaning your car if you want to sell it and get a good price for it.
Don't have any nasty smells lingering in your vehicle because this can be very off-putting for those coming to view it. Smokers should make a point of trying to get rid of stale smoke smells and put a stop to smoking in the car. There are many people who will simply not buy a car that stinks of cigarette smoke and if they are going to buy the car you will not get as good a price from them.
Don't have the car documentation stored away somewhere unknown. Anyone who is prepared to make an offer for your car will want to have a look at this paperwork so you should have it all to hand. Potential buyers will probably be annoyed if they have to wait around while you try to dig out the documents.
Do not under any circumstances, tell lies about your car because it is usually pretty obvious that you are lying. You should tell the truth even if the truth means admitting that the car was in an accident. Trying to cover up the evidence is not the best strategy and it could backfire on you badly.
