Virgin America appointed Basho Technologies veteran Dean Cookson as Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 15, 2011 -- Virgin America announced the appointment of Dean Cookson as the Company's new Vice President and Chief Information Officer. In his new role, Cookson will lead strategic technology initiatives of Virgin America, including the implementation of the new reservations and operational platforms. Cookson will oversee Virgin America's data centers, storage subsystems, core application infrastructure and integration, and the architecture of its Web site.
Cookson was previously a Vice President of Business Development at Basho Technologies. Prior to that, Cookson served as Chief of Operations at Snapfish, where he was responsible for site delivery, product fulfillment and customer support. Prior to that, Cookson served as Director of Operations at Looksmart, where he oversaw production systems, database, network and data centers.
Cookson attended Case Western Reserve University and Northeastern University in Boston, where he studied Computer Science.
