You don't want to miss out on visiting Norwich. The city was founded in the sixth century by the Saxon North Folk, and in this time since has experienced many changes. It used to be a large English seaport and then became well known for its shoemaking and engineering. During a visit you can visit amazing medieval buildings, modern television studios, and interesting hotels.

When you are working on planning your schedule for a day's trip from your Norwich Hotel, you should make Coleman's Mustard Shop a definite stop; it is in the Royal Arcade, easy to find in the center of Norwich. Founded in 1814, the Coleman's brand (with its yellow packaging) started making its way out on the shelves. It is still operated out of its factory in Carrow, but it's also being exported all around the world by Unliver, its sister exporting company. This helped with the recognizing of the wonderful town of Norwich, the birthplace of a British heritage brand. You can find books on the history of Coleman products, pick up some great mustards, and find interesting knick-knacks when you go to the shop.

Shopping in Norwich is always a fun day. In 2006, it was designated the 8th most prosperous city for shoppers in the entire UK. The open air market was set up somewhere between 1071 and 1074 by Normans, and it is open 6 days each week even now. Don't miss out on the Mall Norwich, a large shopping mall hidden mostly underground and designed into the side of a hill. (Quite the place to shop, wouldn't you say?) The Chapelfield mall, which was recently built where Caley's Chocolate used to be made before Nestle bought the company in 1996 and moved operations to New York and cut off ties with Norwich after 120 years of history, is another enjoyable place to shop. You can pop in the Guildhall to see amazing architecture when you are sick of shopping; this medieval hall was constructed in 1407.

Next up is The Forum. The Millennium Library was planned to be housed inside The Forym. It was built in 2002 by designer Michael Hopkins and is a replacement to the previous Norwich Central Library which sadly burned down in 1994. Not only does this building have a library, but it also is the headquarters and television centre for BBC East. There is plenty of space for concerts, special events, and exhibitions in the complex as well. The central interest here, though, is the 2nd Air Division Memorial Library- containing information that is left from the relationship of the United States and East Anglia during the Second World War and Cold War, which is something not to be missed.

Norwich Cathedral cannot be forgotten on this list. The 140 metre cathedral was dedicated to the Holy and Undivided Trinity after the completion of its construction which was done between 1096 and 1145. The Black Death created problems with the building project and the largest cloister could not be completed until 1297; it contains more than 1,000 bosses. This building is not to be missed as it is one of the largest and most gorgeous cathedrals in all of England. With a spire standing at 315 feet tall and the only two-storey cloister anywhere in England, be sure to set this as priority. And if you get a opportunity, have a look from St. James's Hill on Mousehold Heath, it's the best view in the city.

Norwich is home to an extensive and interesting culture which you can take in at the museums, castles, and markets throughout town. Don't get caged inside, with so many cozy hotels Norwich is an easy city to be lasy within, but this town provides so many interesting and fascinating artefacts made all the way back in the Medieval times. Norwich is blended with such an array of details that you will leave already getting set for your next trip back.
