Grete Eliassen finished the 2010 ski season by completing filming on first movie, an all women’s ski movie named Say My Name (saymynameski.com), where Eliassen held the starring role. After two years of filming, the time had come to edit mass quantities of footage and make a ski film no one had ever seen before. Grete took some well deserved time off from the snow began her work on the media circuit, while the crew at Stan Evans Photography was busy editing, which must be complete for the Fall 2010 release date.

During the summer of 2010 Grete was featured in ESPN The Magazine, How Soccer Shapes All Sports with athletes Steve Nash, Dwight Freeny, Patrik Elias, Shane Victorino and Raphael Matos. http://insider.espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5339986&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fvideo%2fclip%3fid%3d5339986

Grete’s sponsors, Red Bull, approached her about a racing event they had planned. When asked if she had any desire to compete in the Volkswagon TDI Jetta Cup in June, Eliassen replied (without hesitation), “I have dreamed about racing cars my whole life, I race go-karts all the time.” Even though Grete would soon find out go-karts are a world apart from car racing, she still had a great time getting a racecar on two wheels.

The rest of the summer was spent at the lake house playing all her favorite water-sports. STEREO SKIS even sent her a pair of wake-skis, which gave her the ability to master 180s over the wake and, of course, master her personal favorite, the spread eagle. In addition, tennis lessons with her mom and golf rounds with her siblings were a weekly event.

Grete took a trip out to Southern California to speak at the Action Sports Conference in July alongside her friend from the Women’s Sports Foundation, Ashley Fiolek. While in Southern Cali, Eliassen got help out her eyewear and apparel sponsor Oakley’s product testing session. The Oakley athletes tested swim gear and the new active line in Oceanside, where Grete got to surf with pro surfer Lani Doherty and wakeboard with Amber Wing and Nicola Butler off the Liquid Force boat in the Lagoon.

The summer ended with Grete playing golf in the Ghost Tree Invitational in Bend, OR, which helps youth in Oregon. Grete quickly bonded with actress Aimee Garcia, from the George Lopez show, over some rounds of golf, who would also later attend the “Say My Name” Movie premiere in Santa Monica, CA.

Mixed in with her hectic schedule, Grete attended the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. Eliassen’s all women’s ski movie; “Say My Name” had its debut at the IF3 Film Festival in Montreal, QC. All of her long-time skiing idols were in attendance at the Red Bull Building, Philipe Poirier, JP Auclair, Julien Regnier, JF Cusson and Tanner Hall. During the IF3 awards Grete won Best Female, a trend to be seen throughout the fall.

“Say My Name” was shown at The Meeting in Aspen, CO and in Santa Monica, CA at the Red Bull Headquarters for the Say My Name World Premiere. Every premiere you could hear little girls saying, “I just love being able to watch a women’s ski movie.”

The beginning of October Grete was invited to attend the espnW Retreat at Torrey Pines, CA. The event launched the new brand of espnW, a women’s specific sports outlet. Grete is a member of the athlete advisory panel for the Women’s Sports Foundation, the official charity of espnW.

Mid October, Grete headed to the Big Apple to attend the Annual Salute To Women in Sports Dinner hosted by the Women’s Sports Foundation at the Waldorf Astoria. The night also ended with a showing of “Say My Name” at the Red Bull Space. Athletes in attendance included: Lyn-z Adams Hawkins, Ashley Fiolek, Jessica Mendoza, Travis Pastrana, Jennie Finch, Lillian Chamberlain and many others.

Grete was awarded Best Female Performance in a Leading Role in the 2010 ESPN Action Sports Ski and Snowboard Video Awards. Word was spreading about Grete Eliassen, her amazing skills, and her new ski film, which culminated with the October 2010 iTunes release of “Say My Name”. Grete attended the Harvest Film Festival in Sun Valley, ID and showed her new ski movie to local audiences. Just when Grete was itching’ for some powder, Snowbird Ski & Snowboard Resort opened for the season; officially kicking off the ski season for Grete.
