Fayetteville, AR - Arkansas Junior Golf Academy, the University of Arkansas golf camp, is pleased to announce that this summer’s courses will now be available to women ages 12-18. Space is limited, however, to the first 25 applicants. Interested individuals can register at http://www.university-of-arkansas-junior-golf-camps.com. The Razorback Junior Golf Camp will be held from Friday, June 8 to Monday, June 11, 2012.

The University of Arkansas junior golf camp’s goal is to provide all skill levels of junior-age golfers the opportunity to practice both basic and advanced technique, have fun in a challenging and competitive environment, and learn while enjoying everything the game of golf has to offer. Through not only V1 swing video analysis, putting studio, and launch monitors, but also instruction time with University of Arkansas Golf coaches, the campers can learn the game with the finest technology and coaching available. Extensive attention is given to the full swing, short game, wedge game, pitching/chipping, bunker play, and putting exercises and techniques that the Champion Razorback Golf team practice. In addition to a comprehensive folder containing full game instruction, all players will learn to practice the same short game and long game drills that Razorbacks perform on a regular basis.

Activities are available for the campers every night. They will have a very valuable opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with the University of Arkansas golf coaches and Razorback team players to discuss college competition, recruiting, and academic issues. Evening entertainment will include a night at Gator Golf and a night at the Arkansas Athletic Outreach. All activities will be paid for through the application fee. The only extra money needed for each camper will be for small items such as sodas, snacks, or pizza.

“We are very proud and excited to offer young women the opportunity to attend the University of Arkansas Summer Golf Camp,” Razorback assistant golf coach Barrett Lais stated. “Judging by the camps continued success, I’d say most past campers would say they had a great time and learned a lot about this great game of golf. Am I promising you that we can turn you into a Tiger Woods, A Mickelson, A Downey, or a Sorenstam? You never know! We teach the same techniques the Razorback players use. Even though I look somewhat dumpy, I can drive the ball consistently over 300 yards. I can also bench press over 150 pounds. Plus, Blessing Golf Club is simply one of the nicest and most challenging courses you can play. We try very hard to make this camp truly an amazing experience and learning opportunity.

The Blessings Golf Club will be the host of the SEC Women’s Championship in 2012 and the 2013 Men’s NCAA Regional. This facility is the newest addition to the University of Arkansas golf programs. Located just 5 miles from campus, it features indoor and outdoor training facilities. In June of 2004, the Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed course was unveiled with the championship tees set at approximately 7,500 yards, cavalier zoysia fairways, and bent grass greens with Precision Air. The course has already gained a reputation as one of the premier courses in Southern U.S.
