At this year's Prism Award 2015 the measurement and control technology company Lufft from Fellbach, Germany was among the last three nominations in the category of "Detectors and Sensors". With the new product "MARWIS" it could assert itself against applicants from 35 countries. The new mobile sensor can now pride itself as one of this year's best innovations.

"It is an honor for the great engineers of our company, a company with the slogan "passion for precision," says Lufft manager Klaus Hirzel summarizing the results of yesterday's awards ceremony in San Francisco.

Thus, MARWIS is one of the best new technologies that currently exist in the global sensors market. It is the first mobile road sensor made by Lufft. Mounted on a vehicle, it measures different road conditions such as friction, the ice percentage, the relative humidity above the road surface, the water film height up to six millimeters, the dew point temperature, drought, moisture, slushy snow and the road surface temperature. This happens very quickly and contactless with a sample rate of up to 100 hertz.

The development team of Lufft is pleased with this position and sees this as a reward for the years of development work.

The recognized Prism Award is not groundless called the "Oscar of the photonics industry" because it is considered as the most important award in the opto-electronic sector. Therefore, the placement among the last three is a great honor for the medium-sized company from Fellbach.

Responsible for this award is the cooperation between SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics as well as Photonics Media, a leading publisher of various photonics-related media.

The measurement and control technology company thanks all participants and is looking forward to the future of the new mobile sensor MARWIS.
