Tom Armstrong decided to join LEM Products after achieving substantial cost reduction goals at the Philadelphia Inquirer. “The competitive edge is critical and the leadership at LEM understands that. It is imperative that upper management be committed to investing in people and equipment. This Company is solidly in the corner of expansion and growth, that is what interested me”.
Tom Armstrong has extensive experience as a transportation and distribution manager at the Philadelphia Inquirer. His role as Production Manager was to ensure that all production aspects of the daily and Sunday editions were coordinated seamlessly from press to distribution. Mr. Armstrong managed all aspects of DOT and ABC compliance and utilized LEAN manufacturing practices to achieve goals of on time delivery of over 1 million newspapers and printed commercial products daily. His leadership responsibilities included interfacing with 29 warehouses and dozens of regional managers.
Most recently Tom was employed at Merck and Co where he was he achieved his objective of exceeding production goals for the vaccine packaging department. He also took the lead role representing the department on the corporate-wide safety committee as well as participated in various panel groups.
Tom is a cyclist who has raced both nationally and abroad. He was a member of the Olympic long team in 1988 and believes that competitive cycling has helped shaped both his personal and professional life.
