5th International Marathon in Cyprus - Limassol Marathon GSO 2011 receives even stronger support, as holds the crown of the Cyprus Marathon center. Taking place on the 20th February 2011, Limassol Marathon GSO 2011 events include the Races of Marathon, Half Marathon, Atlantica 10k, 5k Corporate Race, 5k Charity Walk and a 2k Kids Fun Run.

The Limassol Marathon GSO, the Official National Marathon Championship of Cyprus, holds the crown as the Marathon center of Cyprus, and nothing will change that! The organizers, Limassol Municipality, GSO – Cyprus’ oldest Athletic Organization and OEM – the organization company, are again joining forces with all the Authorities and other prestigious private organizations in order to make this biggest athletic event more successful.
It is highly impressive that their efforts are supported by the Cyprus Tourist Organization, Cyprus Police, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, Limassol Chamber of Commerce, the Limassol Tourist Development Company, the Technological University, Civil Defense, the Cyprus Scouts, Cyprus Athletics Organization, KOEAS and so many more.
It is worth mentioning that the much awaited proclamation of the Limassol Marathon GSO 2011 , taking place on the 20th February, was recently made at a specially organized event. Honored by the presence of the Minister of Education and representatives from all the above boards and organizations, the organizers and hosts were overwhelmed by the response. The Mayor of Limassol Mr. Andreas Christou, the President of GSO Mr. Neoklis Thoma and the Director of the Organization, Councilor and Vice-President of The Cyprus Limassol Chamber of Commerce Mr. Spyros Spyrou expressed their determination and commitment to making the Limassol Marathon Cyprus’ biggest running event and one of the most popular Marathons in Europe. They also announced some changes and improvements such as moving the Start and Finish point on “Molos” (the promenade) pedestrian area and the inclusion of a new 5K Corporate race.
The highlight of the event was the award presentation to the 51 Cypriot runners who excelled in the various Races and categories of the 2010 Marathon. All the Sponsors and Institutional Supporters were also thanked and offered commemorative plaques. In 2010, over 12,000 euro was gathered in the form of donations to Charities via the Charity Walks. During the event, this sum was delivered to Make a wish – Cyprus and Europa Donna – Cyprus.
The Limassol Marathon GSO 2011 events include the Races of Marathon, Half Marathon, Atlantica 10k, 5k Corporate Race, 5k Charity Walk and a 2k Kids Fun Run. The route is parallel to the coast avenue, and runners are never far from the sea, thus the slogan ‘Run Along the Waves’. The straight route of the coastal course, with very few hypsometric differences, is a very fast course and ideal for runners of all abilities to achieve Personal Best times. No wonder it is already included in the diary of so many runners worldwide!
