The Batman Hoodie website celebrates the iconic Batman superhero’s evolution throughout the years with the launch of its new website and merchandising line. This year marks the Dark Knight’s 71st anniversary.
Batman is a comic book character created by the artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger. He first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939, and since then has appeared in many of DC Comics’ publications.
Soon after his introduction, Batman gained his own comic book entitled, Batman, in 1940. Throughout the years Batman has continued to strike fear into the heart of criminals and supervillains including the Joker, the Riddler, Two-Face, the Penguin, Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, and other forces of evil that have plagued Gotham City.
In the past decades, there have been numerous incarnations of the Caped Crusader from the late 1960s Batman television series, portrayed by Adam West, to Christopher Nolan's 2005 reboot Batman Begins. The latter helped reignite popular interest in the character. As one of the biggest comic book icons in the world, Batman has been licensed and adapted into a variety of media, from radio to television and film, and he appears on a variety of merchandise sold all over the world such as toys, clothing (such as the Batman Hoodie), and video games.
Batman is one of the few fictional characters that can be defined by his toys and merchandising. The first toy boom started in 1966, and since then, along with the release of every major movie or cartoon series has come a line of toys and other merchandise.
Batman has become a pop culture icon, recognized around the world.
