Drinking Water Before Meals Helps Dieting Experts Say
Drinking water before eating meals can help you lose weight, US scientists say

Drinking water before eating a meal can aid weight loss, according to a recent study carried out in the US state of Virginia. Scientists say a group of adults aged 55-75 was split into two groups over 12 weeks. One group drank two glasses of water before each low calorie meal, while the other group did not.
At the end of the study the water drinkers had lost on average 5lbs more than their non water-drinking counterparts. Research suggests the 'full feeling' given by drinking the water meant that fewer calories were consumed at mealtimes, even on a calorie controlled diet.
Diet and fitness expert Larry James said of the findings, 'this study proves that consuming small amounts of water in conjunction with a calorie controlled diet can help you lose significantly more weight over a prolonged period.' James added that, 'care should also be taken not to drink too much water, as this can actually lead to serious health problems.'
