Touristaz is bringing the daily deal bonanza to the travel industry. Touristaz is groupon for travel. Now the deal-a-day, group-buying concept came to the travel industry. Here's the gist: The site groups you with like-minded buyer and delivers the exactly type of travel deal you want. (And, no, you don't travel with strangers. You merely click "buy" together and then pick your own dates for travel.)

Here is a basic summation of how a demand-side travel deal on Touristaz.
Upon entering the site, a user would get the option of browsing travels groups in list-form or by location on a map. The user would then be able to join a group that fits his interest. For instance, if the user was looking to travel to Rio de Janeiro, there might be a list of different groups looking for airfare, lodging, or other tour-related details to Rio de Janeiro during various travel times.
So, for instance, our example user finds and joins a Rio de Janeiro travel group looking for discounts on short term rentals to Copacabana during the summer of 2011.
As a group member he would be presented with details such as the group member count, total amount of desired days, types of desired accommodations, etc. Our new group member would then enter his desired deal details. There would be a few ways to facilitate communication within the group to share more travel data. All of this captured data will be used to procure the best travel deal(s) for the entire group.
Our system will monitor various criteria and determine how many more group members would be needed in order for a deal to go live to the group. Once the group begins to hit a certain demand level that is where the platform kicks in.
We would begin to search our database for one or more providers who would be willing to offer a deal to our users. These providers would essentially be bidding on the ability to fulfill the deal. Then we would determine which of the deals would be best for our users and then supply it to them.
There could be a consortium of hotel operators, apartment owners, and timeshare owners providing various packages with discounts up to 90% off. We would sort and select the best details by quality, reviews, overall discount, and other criteria. Then we would select one or more providers and produce the deal.
So our example group may get presented with a deal like this one below:
The property owner would offer a block of 12 weeks as the minimum group purchase. The going rate for that property would be $200 nightly. However, if the minimum time slots are reserved, the group would get a 50% for $100 nightly. Interested travelers could then reserve days on the scheduling calendar. Once all the minimum days were booked, the users are charged and the rate goes live to everyone until all available days were reserved.
This offers property owners the ability to have a 100 percent fill rate for a large amount of time and offers our travelers a huge discount over the normal rate. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved.
