American Powerlifting Federation Gears Up for 3rd Annual High School Nationals
Bringing strength and talent together at the Teenage Nationals in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is an event that has pushed the limits for three years and counting.

Following the tremendous success of the 2008 High School National Powerlifting competition in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the American Powerlifting Federation (APF) committee opted to make an annual event of the youth powerlifting contest.
Powerlifting refers to a strength sport consisting of several divisions including squat, bench press and dead lift. The High School Nationals will invite high school students to test their abilities as they compete in each category.
The APF High School Nationals Weekend, April 9-11, 2010 will bring an estimated 250-300 young lifters from various regions of the country, in some cases first time competitors, to test their strength and compete for their school. At the 2009 High School Nationals, Josh Winstead‘s achievement of an astonishing WPC World Record 479 lb. squat was the highlight in his 1,101 lb. total.
Back in 2008, at the first High School National Weekend “Garry made APF history by having the most successful APF Teenage National competition the APF has ever had in Baton Rouge LA,” Raves Mike Sweeney, President of the World Powerlifting Congress.
The event was such a huge success and APF President and meet coordinator, Garry Frank, was so impressed with the strength and talent that came out to compete, he bragged “These kids are the strongest H.S. lifters in the nation.”
This year’s event will be held at the VENUE, in Alexandria, Louisiana, on April 9-11. The event will be hosted at Peabody H.S. Interested contenders should contact Garry Frank to inquire about entry. The weight lifting enthusiasts are well known as the organization made by lifters, for lifters. The APF hosts meets and events world wide for men and women of all ages.
