For nearly 24 years, Flippers Pizzeria, headquartered in Orlando, Florida, has been perfecting their menu with quality food made from fresh, honest ingredients.
Pizzerias across America make up 17 percent of all U.S. restaurants, and according to some estimates, the average yearly per capita pizza consumption is a hefty 23 pounds. Clearly, Americans love their pizza. But according to the brick-oven bakers at Flippers Pizzeria, there’s more to making a delicious pizza than meets the eye.
Founders of Flippers Pizzeria, Todd Dennis and Scott Kousaie, say that making a perfect pizza is based on two critical components—the cooking style and the quality of ingredients. “We use the best brick-ovens in the business, and our ingredients are some of the freshest of any pizza restaurant around—all sliced and prepared that morning,” said Dennis.
“We searched far and wide for the best tomato sauces, cheeses, and meats available,” said Kousaie. “It took us months to visit well over 20 different farms scattered throughout the country. We were determined to find the best ingredients around—to find growers who upheld the same freshness and quality values of Flippers Pizzeria.”
Flippers Pizzeria executives found those important core values in three esteemed providers: Saputo Cheese, offering an extensive line of aged specialty cheeses from Wisconsin; Escalon Premier Brands in California’s San Joaquin Valley, growing and breeding the finest tomatoes for their all-natural, fresh-packed tomato sauces (free of preservatives and additional citric acid); and Fontanini Italian Meats and Sausages, a family-run business founded by Italian immigrants over 40 years ago in Chicago.
According to Ben Richardson, Vice President of Operations, the dough used to make Flippers Pizzeria’s famous three crust styles (Traditional, Neapolitan Thin, and Seasoned Thick Crust) was also specially selected according to Flippers Pizzeria’s high quality standards:
“We are especially proud of all the ingredients that go into our dough. We use General Mills All Trumps unbleached, unbromated flour, which has rich flavor and superior consistency for all our pizzas. We hand-stretch our pizza crusts with authentic durum wheat semolina (as opposed to white flour), adding a unique taste while paying homage to artisan pizza bakers of the past. We also use extra-virgin olive oil in our dough instead of lard or vegetable oil—not only because it is healthier—but because it also tastes great. It is certainly not the cheapest ingredient, but again, we know it’s better quality, so we stand by it.”
“It comes down to passion for pizza,” says Dennis. “You can taste the quality in our food—it’s a combination of our respect for fine pizza making and our commitment to using the best ingredients from the most respected vendors in the USA. Our customers taste it and keep coming back for more.”
Dennis is right. Just one visit to the company’s Facebook and Twitter profiles, and it’s clear that customers are fanatical about the pizza from Flippers Pizzeria.
“We’ve got some die-hard fans out there,” said Ian Schneider, Vice President of Flippers Pizzeria Franchising, LLC. “Satisfying their tastes and comfort is our top priority. They are accustomed to the high standard that Flippers Pizzeria has set over the years. Our quality ingredients are testament to upholding our reputation as the freshest pizzas in town.”

About
Our story starts with two friends with entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for America's favorite food. We opened up our first Pizzeria in central Florida in 1987. Realizing the importance of freshness, ease of operation, and variety, we opened a commissary to support the growth. This model created the ability to support multiple units while ensuring consistency and quality throughout the system.
