Melbourne ,Victoria - After 249 laps just one lap separated the winner from Morcom Motorsport BMW 335i, driven by Barry Morcom, Nathan Morcom and Garry Holt, which finished second.
A trouble-plagued VIP Petfoods Evolution 9, driven by Tony and Klark Quinn, placed third.
Jim Hunter, owner and co-driver of the winning entry, said that his team was elated with the win.
"It was just a gruelling day and drivers had to be on the hammer the whole time," he said.
"We had 11 pit stops - and to win the race by over a lap is a real testament to the pit crew."
Eight hours of racing pushed drivers, cars and tyres to the limit during an incident-filled race.
The three Pro-Duct Mitsubishi Evolution Lancers occupied three of the top four positions after qualifying on Saturday, but all three failed to finish the race.
The Eastern Creek Eight Hour production car endurance race served as a preview of the two-round 2011 Australian Production Car Endurance Championship.
Eastern Creek Raceway CEO Glenn Matthews said that the Australian Racing Drivers Club is committed to the event for three years.
"The 2010 Eastern Creek 8 Hour was the first step towards building the foundations of growing production car racing in Australia.
"We believe that supporting production car racing with endurance races will help to nurture Australian motorsport talent by providing a cost-effective platform for those wishing to race competitively," Matthews said.
The winners of the Eastern Creek 8 Hour production car endurance race shared in the total prize pool of $100,000.
The CAMS-sanctioned championship in 2011 will feature a six-hour race at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, and an eight-hour race at Eastern Creek International Raceway.
