Students will be trained in a broad range of skills that are essential for a career in medicine. This program will focus on medical practices and procedures, medical ethics and law, medical insurance and record keeping and patient preparation for basic laboratory procedures and tests. The program will also prepare students to work as cardiac monitoring technicians. A 120-hour internship is required upon completion of the coursework.
Medical Assisting 960 is designed for students who do not possess a high school diploma or GED. Achieving acceptable scores on an independent admissions test is required for attending the course. The program emphasizes the skills necessary to succeed in school and in the business world. The Medical Assisting program prepares students to perform both administrative and clinical duties.. Under the direction of a physician, the program will also prepare students to work as cardiac monitoring technicians (CMTs). A 120-hour internship is required upon completion of the coursework.
