The global demand for LLDPE increased from 10.6 million tons in 2000 to 15.49 million tons in 2009. The demand grew at a CAGR of 3.8% during the period. Packaging and construction industries were the major consumers of LLDPE. In 2009, the combined share of both the industries was more than 85% of the demand for LLDPE globally. Some of the major markets for LLDPE have reached a saturation point which has limited the demand for LLDPE in those regions. Countries such as the US and other developed countries in Europe such as Germany and France have reached saturation levels. The demand for LLDPE is rising from other developing countries such as China, India and Brazil.
