Personalised Interactive: The Next Broadcasting Revolution

An event to explore the changing way in which people interact with broadcast media and the variety of emerging feedback channels
Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom (prbd.net) 31/01/2011
January 31st 2011 - The way in which people interact with broadcast media is changing rapidly with a variety of feedback channels emerging. The Digital Communications Knowledge Transfer Network is organising an event in collaboration with Queen Mary, University of London to explore where this phenomenon could go.

Up to now, television broadcasting has largely been seen as a purely passive activity with the user having little or no say on how broadcast material is presented to them. However, the availability of increased bandwidth, with feedback channels from the user to the studio, together with new research in the fields of semantic tagging and automatic camera tracking, will allow users to have a much greater say on individualised production of the content. Ultimately, this will lead to the development of personalised broadcasting services over a variety of channels and networks provide possibilities for new forms of user experience and offer novel revenue generating services for both broadcasters and content providers.

This FREE event will take place on Friday 18 February from 13:00 to 17:00 at ‘The Octagon’ Queen Mary University of London, Mile End Road, London E1 4NS

The purpose of this event is to explore the latest research into this field, giving the audience a taste of the future of broadcasting. Talks will be given by leading players and researchers in the area of Personalised Interactive Broadcasting and demonstrations given as to the latest technology being developed.
