Sunday, January 23 was a majestic day for Bob Weir fans who performed a rare solo act at the Sundance Film Festival at the ASCAP café in Park City, UT that also includes the opening of the film “The Music Never Stopped”, a movie based on an essay by neurologist and medical author Dr. Oliver Sacks describing how his experience with a patient having a brain diseases. The most notable part of Bob’s performance was his reunion with Mickey Hart, a drummer for Bob’s first founded band Grateful Dead. Bob first started his solo set of performances by playing “Me & My Uncle,” “Desolation Row,” “KC Moan,” “Victim or the Crime,” “Easy To Slip” and “Loose Lucy and later he was joined by Mickey on some other songs including the closing song “Sugar Magnolia”. Though Mickey is not a part of Weir’s newest band “Furthur” but two former band mates always remain close.
Bob Weir, the 63 year old singer mostly known for playing rhythm guitar has also lend his voice for the soundtrack of Wretches & Jabberers" – a documentary about Autism diseases. The documentary has been released on iTunes on January 11will hit the theaters in April in honor of National Autism Awareness Month.
Weir, the famous guitarist has announced its 2011 tour dates as the frontman of his latest project Furthur that also features Phil Lesh, the former member of the Grateful Dead band. Furthur also features drummer Joe Russo (Benevento/Russo Duo), guitarist John Kadlecik (Dark Star Orchestra), as well as Jeff Chimenti (keys) and Jay Lane (drums), Weir's two RatDog bandmates. The Bob Weir tour is a 12 stops tour that will open in March. This Bob Weir East Coast Spring 2011 Tour will kick start on Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Orpheum Theatre, Boston and will run through April 6, 2011. Most of the Bob’s spring concerts have already been sold out. The 12 cities spring tour including stops at Boston, Wallingford, New York, Fairfax, Upper Darby, Binghamton, Hampton, Charleston, Atlanta, Orlando and Boca Raton.
Bob Weir will also perform three shows at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, CO for the Awesome Vacation from February 11-February 13 before he heads up for his tour.
