Circle are Sydney based pop / rock band with a couple of long players under their belts. They recently won a $12K prize to help press and distribute their CD all over the US and as a result digital sales have spiked and US College radio is actually charting Circle's album from coast to coast.
The band formed in Enmore from the ashes of what was then known as Opanoni and The Raindrops; another local act who's made a splash with their album EGBDF. A new direction and new members commanded a new working name and the first release, Just Keep Swimming in 2009 won claims across Australia. The single Pa Pa Pa was features in several syncs and the band toured the east coast in support of the release.
Further changes and moves from members resulted in a small break and project they called a song a week. The result was the yet to be released Molasses Sandwiches which was mixed at Electrical Audio in Chicago. Highlight tracks, Mr. Man and Into the Sun continue to garner attention even before the albums release.
Their current project, Chicken or Egg, is an opportunity for the band to get back into the studio, rediscover their creative magic and more importantly get some material out into the great wide unknown in preparation for the release of Molasses Sandwiches.
Quirky, intelligent and thought provoking, these guys know how to pull at the heart strings and get your toes tapping all in a matter of a few bars.
