Veteran Bollywood actor of the yesteryears, A. K. Hangal was recently seen in a entirely new role – as that of a show stopper for designer Riyaz Ganji’s summer collection at the Gitanjali Cyclothon fashion show.

94 year old A.K. Hangal became the showstopper at a recent fashion event when he walked the ramp for designer Riyaz Ganji. Riyaz Ganji, who showcased his summer line of clothing at the Gitanjali Cyclothon fashion show, managed to rope in the ailing actor for a brief appearance on the ramp. The actor who is more commonly known as ‘Rahim Chacha’ of Sholay, wore a cream coloured dhoti with a black coat as he appeared on the ramp at the end of the show on a wheel chair.
A.K. Hangal is struggling to survive as he has very little money left with him for his food and medicines with no income at all. As a mark of respect to the actor and in an attempt to aid him, Riyaz donated Rs. 50,000 from the proceedings of the show. Apart from that all the models who walked the ramp also donated half of their earnings, which amounted to Rs. 25,000. Riyaz will also be auctioning all his six collections that he displayed on the ramp and give all the money to Hangal and his family.
The nonagenarian was exhilarated and overwhelmed about the show. "The show was good and I am feeling great about it. I have never seen so many photographers and press in my life before, I am feeling great," Hangal told reporters after the show at BKC Trident.
