Wilmington NC Attorney Andrew Olsen Passes Elder Law Specialty Examination
Wilmington NC attorney Andrew Olsen, of The Elder Law Firm of Andrew Olsen, recently passed the elder law specialty examination of the National Elder Law Foundation and has been awarded the designation of a "Board Certified Specialist in Elder Law" by the North Carolina State Bar.

Wilmington attorney Andrew Olsen, of The Elder Law Firm of Andrew Olsen, recently passed the elder law specialty examination of the National Elder Law Foundation and has been awarded the designation of a "Board Certified Specialist in Elder Law" by the North Carolina State Bar.
Attorney Olsen is the only certified elder law specialist in New Hanover and surrounding counties. He received his B.A. in Economics from Pamona College in Claremont, California, and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Andrew is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and the Elder Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.
In addition, he is a certified Arbitrator in District Court, and a certified Mediator in Superior Court and before the clerk. Andrew is also a board member of Wilmington Railroad Museum and Elderhaus.
Mr. Olsen is available for consultations and specializes in Elder Care, Estate Planning, Health Care Directives, on Wills and Trusts, Probate, Veteran's Benefits, Powers of Attorney, Life Care Planning, Medicaid Planning, Special Needs Planning, Guardianship, and Geriatric Care Management.
The North Carolina State Bar certifies lawyers as specialists in designated practice areas as a service to the public. The program assists members of the public in selection of legal counsel by identifying lawyers who have demonstrated special knowledge, skill, and proficiency in certain areas of the law. The program also offers lawyers a credible way of making their expertise known to the public and other lawyers.
To be certified as a specialist in a practice area, a lawyer must have been in practice for at least five years, devote a significant part of his or her practice to the specialty area, attend continuing legal education (CLE) seminars in the specialty, be favorably evaluated by other lawyers and judges (peer review), and pass a written examination in the specialty practice area.
