North West based phone systems supplier 1700cc have been beta trialling an innovative software gadget that can link Google’s places with incoming calls. As office Phone Systems ring it creates a screen-pop of the callers web information held by the Google Places list. This often includes not just a map but a street view of their premises. So gone are the days of tele-canvassers passing themselves off as somebody else. It all occurs in a split second, giving users the chance to consider rejecting the call if they believe that it may be inappropriate.
The package is not totally new as it was launched for OfficeServ Phone Systems in October 2010 but without the search engine integration. There are different versions on sale and all will connect to numerous databases simultaneously. The entry level version is branded “Dial” and is good for linking to Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes. The mid market offering is “Presence” and adds; Sage Act, Goldmine, MS Access and Maximizer to the selection of compatibilities. Whereas the top variety works with; Micro-soft CRM, Netsuite, Sage-CRM, SageLine 50, Salesforce, SugarCRM, SuperOffice and general ODBC.
The real beauty of the product is that it can multi-link to any number of lists together which gives a user the choice of which pop to pick. They show tiny application icons within the MicroPop at the left foot of your PC screen.
The results when linked to Googler info can be amusing when telesales aren’t being entirely honest, says salesperson, Daniel Pickin. “We were canvassed by someone purporting to be from BT last week. But with the benefit of the CTI I was able to see that they were from a small telephone company in Dublin. When I challenged them about this they stuttered before claiming to have stated that they were calling on behalf of British Telecom.” It was funny to hear them squirm.
The newest release that boasts this search-engine connectivity to Phone Systems will become available to businesses in May 2011. http://www.1700cc.co.uk
