It was also revealed that men on average owe more money than women, and would also tend not to worry about their debts until they reached about £12,000.
The survey also found that the typical person would not seek advice or a debt solution until they got into nearly £20,000 worth of debt and one in ten people with unsecured debt can only afford to meet the minimum repayment.
