21th April, 2011, New Delhi, India: Taking the burden of corporate social responsibility seriously, Mana Hotels announces itself as a Green Organisation. They pledge their allegiance to the green cause and to keep their carbon footprint as low as possible.
They have invested heavily in green technology and incorporated efficient rainwater harvesting, waste water recycling and geothermal cooling systems to ensure that their hotels in Ranakpur and Nathdwara in Rajasthan, India are as environment friendly as possible.
This is not a new position that they are taking on. Since the time of conception of the hotels, their team has ensured that no trees on the site were cut for construction or landscaping purposes. In fact they have had to change their designs and layouts for the Ranakpur property to save trees which have now become an integral part of the landscape.
Mana Hotels CEO, Mr. Rohan Rajgarhia elaborates on the incident; “Our architect Mr. Akshat Bhatt & our landscape consultant Mrs. Gauri Sehgal Gandhi brought to our notice the fact that the oldest tree on site was intersecting with our main hotel building. This tree was a ‘Badd’ species with the foliage cover spreading over a diameter of 30 meters.
The easiest path for us would have been to cut down the tree. However, the management keeping in mind the long term goals of sustainable development with responsibility towards the environment decided to re-work the design. Our decision led to a financial and time loss to the project. But more importantly it was an apt manifestation of our values for all the individuals and organizations working with us on this project.
None of this would have been possible without the great work put in by Architecture discipline & Plan Loci, our Architect and landscape consultant respectively.”
The hotel in question, Mana @ Ranakpur is scheduled to open in September 2011. The 49 room resort spreads over 3.5 acres of greens and features cottages, rooms, a luxurious spa, a swimming pool and both outdoor and indoor sports facilities. Ranakpur is located midway through the highway connecting Udaipur and Jodhpur and has many natural, historical and cultural treats for tourist. Mana hotels has also launched an online magazine (www.manahotels.in/traveller) as their effort to create a more informed traveller to India, especially Rajasthan.
