oomph! Unlimited LLC premieres an original science and technology webisode revealing the “surgical tool of the future” – the PlasmaBlade -- which uses pulses of plasma generated around its tip to locally cut and cauterize flesh.
The original webisode features Dr. Deanna Attai, a board certified surgeon and highly regarded women’s health expert and advocate. She is one of the few surgeons in Southern California utilizing the PlasmaBlade.
The PlasmaBlade represents a quantum leap in technology, improving the control, bleeding and recovery time of the patient. The PlasmaBlade needle cuts tissue with significantly reduced tissue injury compared to traditional electrosurgery and significantly less bleeding time than that produced by a standard scalpel. This translates into improved surgical incision wound healing. Peak Surgical, the medical device company that developed the Peak Surgery System, believes the technology may have applications in more than two million surgical procedures each year.
