To celebrate 888.com’s title sponsorship of Premier League Darts, the online gaming entertainment brand has introduced a unique and interactive Team Challenge to this year’s competition – putting ‘The Power’ in the hands of the fans.
Pitching Team Blue (888poker.com) against Team Green (888casino.com)* at each stage of the 15 week tournament**, the eight players are being awarded two points for a victory and one point for a draw. The losing side will suffer the ultimate indignity of being subjected to a forfeit challenge – as voted for by the sport’s die-hard fans online at www.888.com/darts .
With the online voting up and running on 888.com, now is the time for dedicated fans to play God and cast their votes to determine which of three forfeits the losing team will have to complete on Wednesday 18th May.
• Pantomime Horse Race - The losing team have to dress in pantomime horse costumes and race each other.
• Ultimate Sphereroid Battle - The losing team will climb into giant plastic spheres and maneuver their way through an intricate obstacle course.
• Take One for the Team with Soccer AM - The losing team will appear on the Soccer AM TV show and take turns in the ‘bull’s-eye’ as the winning team’s darts players take shots at them.
After 11 weeks and with the Team Challenge well on its way, Team Blue have the advantage at against their Team Green rivals. The Blues are current favourites at 1/100 to triumph at the end of the 2011 tournament, while the Greens sit at 16/1 with 888sport.com.
Phil Taylor, Team Blue captain and defending 888.com Premier League champion, said, “It’s a fantastic feeling to be entering the home straight in the lead. To walk away with both the Team Challenge and individual titles would be a huge achievement. Equally satisfying is the prospect of watching Team Green suffer humiliation at the hands of the sport’s greatest fans!”
888sport.com is offering Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor, as 11/8 favourite to regain his title with Gary Anderson (11/2 – joint best market price) rated as his biggest challenger. Other current outright winner odds stand at Simon Whitlock (7/1), Adrian Lewis (7/1 – joint best market price), James Wade (8/1), Mark Webster (11/1), Raymond van Barneveld (16/1) and Terry Jenkins (25/1).
