Pro Skier Pip Hunt 2010-2011 Season Recap – Photo Shoots, Ski Films, Coaching and Local Events
Pip Hunt’s ski season may have been her busiest yet. She may have retired from the Freeskiing World Tour, but it definitely didn’t slow her down! Between coaching the juniors on the Alta-bird Freeride team, working with Wasatch photographers, filming with Futuristic Films and working with sponsors at local events.

Phoenix, AZ May 04, 2011 – The 2010/11 ski season marked the start of Pip’s ski coaching career. After celebrating her former coach, Elana Chase’s, win of the OIWC Pioneering Women award, Pip started passing down her own years of experience on the slopes to the junior athletes on the Alta-Bird team, based in Utah. “Coaching the Alta-Bird team is one of the most rewarding things I’ve done with my skiing. The kids are amazing; they’re so much fun to ski with and to watch them progress throughout the season. Sometimes I wonder who is coaching who,” says Pip. After a successful ski season, team Alta-Bird won 14 out of the 21 medals up for grabs at the Junior Freeskiing World Tour Championships at Snowbird Resort, UT. Pip is looking forward to summer training with her athletes to help them continue to grow on and off the slopes. As a Level One Certified Crossfit trainer, she is programming the dry-land program throughout the summer and fall at SLC Crossfit and local hiking and mountain biking trails.
Just because Pip is training and developing the next best athletes in big mountain skiing doesn’t mean she’s done working with herself. This season was Pip’s first successful season of filming with ski film heavyweights. Pip filmed on location with both Sweetgrass Productions for Salomon Freeski TV and Futuristic Films to produce a four-series TV show featuring the Marmot’s new freeride team. Her filming took her from Aspen to Jackson Hole, to Crystal Mountain, Washington, where she skied big mountain lines with soft landings instead of the bomb holes she is used to on the competition circuit. She also worked with local Salt Lake City photographers Re Wikstrom and Jay Beyer on profile story and photo gallery featured on espn.com, which was published in March, 2011.
As the 2011 ski season draws to an end, Pip is heading into summer with mountain biking, trail running, and Crossfit training on her mind. Pip, an accomplished runner, may even throw in a couple of triathlons this summer just to keep her on her toes.
When asked to sum up her feelings on the 2010/11 ski season in one sentence, Pip said, “Thanks to everyone involved, the season was definitely a success.”
Pip thanks her very supportive sponsors for another stellar season: Salomon, Smith, Marmot, Backcountry.com, Hestra, Alta, Snowbird, SLC Crossfit, WIDSIX.com, and WebITdesigns.com.
