Belchertown, MA – May 5, 2011 - New Orleans has been racked by one disaster after the other, and it is difficult to know how to help, but author Charles White has pledged one-third of the proceeds from his new novel 'Fatfingers' to the New Orleans chapter of the American Red Cross.

‘Fatfingers’ follows the misadventures of Etienne Gaspard, a native of Nova Scotia and, unfortunately, a dangerously inept carpenter (They called him Fatfingers because his digits were permanently swollen from misplaced hammer-blows) as he is driven from his home by the British in 1756. A refugee, Etienne travels to South Carolina, Haiti, and, at last, New Orleans, where there exists a burgeoning Acadian population. There he opens a restaurant, (Fatfingers) having traded his carpentry tools for a sack of onions and garlic. Charles White, writer and proprietor of Good Ink Books, has pledged to donate one-third of the proceeds from his novel to the New Orleans Red Cross.

"If New Orleans can give Etienne sanctuary, Etienne can give something back,” White says,”The Red Cross helps people every day.”

In addition to Fatfingers, Good Ink Books has also published 'The Dragon at the Edge of the World,' a novel of first contact between Vikings and Amerindians. Find more information at http://goodinkbooks.com/index.html
