This year’s co-host Amir has been battling rhabdomyosarcoma (muscle cancer) since the age of ten. Amir continues to inspire other children with cancer by giving back. During the 6th Annual Brittiana ‘Smile for Life” event, Amir will give what was once given to him - Amir-acle.
Much like BrittiCares, beloved angel Brittiana Henderson, who would read to children in the hospital as she fought her own battle, Amir is also a person who has a courageous and giving spirit. Brittiana wrote a poem entitled “Where I’m From” an excerpt reads, “Where I’m from you never give up.” Never giving up, Amir fought a battle and is now helping others fight theirs.
Amir saved $167 of his allowance and donated all his savings to BrittiCares International to help children like himself. The donated funds were used to purchase items in the bedroom makeover for a 9 year-old cancer patient named Taylor. “I am a winner, and I am not only fighting for myself, but I am fighting for all other kids battling cancer,” says Amir.
Amir’s donation purchased comforters, lamps and other things in the newly decorated room. Although Taylor lost her battle with cancer on April 3, 2011, she felt the love and support from everyone around her while inspiring those who helped her along the way.

About BrittiCares International
Jamie and Shirell Henderson founded BrittiCares International after their 10-year-old daughter, Brittiana Rene Henderson, was diagnosed with bone cancer and later leukemia. Brittiana courageously fought the disease, never losing hope or faith, and always exuding love for others. Visiting children in the same hospital, reading to them, and spending time with them, Brittiana would always take the focus away from herself by focusing on others.
Brittiana's battle came to an end January 31, 2007, but not before becoming a forerunner in helping other children with similar challenges get through their battle with hope, love, and lots of smiles. BrittiCares offers "Imagine Me" Bedroom Makeovers, Celebrity Connections, Patient Party Times, New Patient Care Bags, Blood & Marrow Drives, Financial Assistance, Holiday Adopt a Family & Dinners, Hospital assistance, Scholarships and other uplifting programs that promote comfort and joy during such a difficult challenge.
