Speculations About The iPhone 5
With the recent release of the white iPhone 4, many are already looking to the future for the announcement and subsequent release of what should be the iPhone 5. Since the launch of the first iPhone from Apple, the company has released a new and updated version of it's well-known smartphone every year without fail. For this reason, speculations about an announcement sometime this year are very strong. Could we be seeing a new version of the iPhone sooner than we think? And if so, what improvements will it have over the previous models?
The iPad 2 got a processor improvement aided by the launch from Apple’s dual-core A5 system-on-a-chip. If you think the iPhone will lag on this regard, you’re sorely mistaken. I’d declare that inclusion of the A5 processor is just about the only guarantee when it comes to the new iPhone. This won’t be the world’s first dual-core cell phone, but it surely will be the greatest. Recently, developers found evidence of the fact that next iPhone will have the A5 chip in iOS 4. 3 firmware code. Apple doesn’t discuss onboard RAM memory with its products, but the iPhone 4 possessed 512 MB, and the initial iPad received 256 MB. The iPad 2 received a good memory bump to 512 MB so it’s very probable that the iPhone 5 could have 1 GB.
In the past, all of the iPhone announcements and release dates have been at Apple's WWDC - World Wide Developer Conference. Held every June, it is thought that if there is to be another iPhone announcement this year, then that will be the time to look for it. However, many factors will affect the possibility of this announcement ever coming to fruition.
First, the recent events in Japan may halt production schedules or, at the very least, push them back. We know that most of the iPhone's technology is outsourced to Japan, so it makes sense that newer iPhone or iOS technologies that might be included in the next iPhone model will be outsourced to Japan again. With the tragic events and the entire nation still attempting to recover, it is a very real possibility that factories may have temporarily stopped or delayed their production.
Secondly, Steve Job's recent medical leave of absence from the company may have delayed executive decisions regarding hardware and software specifics, release dates and marketing choices. These are all factors that would contribute to a pushed-back release of the new iPhone.
While the rumors will remain to run rampant, we still have only just that - rumors. Many CEO's from other companies have dropped hints at projects they are working on that may or may not related to the iPhone 5, but until we have heard official word from an Apple CEO, we cannot nail down a concrete release date.
