Dana Point, CA, June 04, 2011 -- Fish for Life is launching its 2011 season with a half day fishing trip on Saturday, June 4th out of Dana Point harbor in southern California. Guests will start arriving at 8:00 AM. They will receive Fish for Life ( http://www.fishforlife.org ) t-shirts and participate in the opening ceremonies.
Some of the highlights of the opening ceremonies include notable guest speakers, a rendition of our national anthem by the talented, youth vocal group, Vocal Variations, and Fish for Life’s signature red carpet introduction of all the special attendees as the board the Dana Pride.
The vessel will depart at 10:00 AM and return at 3:00 PM. While at sea, the special anglers and their loved ones will enjoy fishing as volunteers teach fishing techniques and serve lunch. If previous trips are any indication of the excitement on this trip, all attending are sure to experience a positive, life-long memorable day. Upon return to the harbor, Fish for Life will complete the trip by having fishing team leaders acknowledge each special needs member on their team with an award and gift.
Bonnie Smith who attended a previous event had this to say about her experience: "It means so much to families like ours to know that people care. We do not live typical lives and find even the most ordinary tasks to be challenging sometimes. You and your crew looked beyond the obstacles to see the value in the experience and expand the horizons of so many in the process. You are a blessing and we are forever grateful. Thank you."
John Ley, who attended another event, expressed his gratitude: "At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I just wanted to thank you and all responsible again for the wonderful opportunity extended to us. Besides the time on the water, from the red carpet introductions, to the gifts at the end, and everything in between, it was a witness to the level of service and labor of love to create memories that will last a lifetime."
A production company will be filming the entire outing for inclusion in an 8-part documentary about fishing that will air at a later date on The Sportsman Channel.
While this trip is already at capacity, Fish for Life is always accepting requests from special needs families for reservations on future trips.
