A thermostatic mixer valve (TMV) is a valve which blends together the hot and cold water similarly to a normal mixer valve, with the added exception that the temperature is a much more constant one. Storing water at a high temperature also removes a possible breeding ground for various waterborne bacteria, such as Legionella, which is part of the species of bacterium that can cause Legionnaire’s disease. By controlling the temperature of your water supply with the use of a TMV, you can increase both the time you save for other relaxing activities and also the amount of water you consume from not having to run the hot water tap.
