More than 80 IRC boats have crossed the departure line today of the shop&miles Bosphorus Cup on the Marmara Sea. As the Official Timekeeper of this spectacular race, CORUM offers an Admiral’s Cup Challenger 44 GMT watch to the winner and associates one of its Turkish retailers – Fancy in Istanbul - with the event.
Hosted by Marmara Sailing Club in Istanbul, the race will take place this weekend with inshore races on the Bosphorus and offshore races in the Caddebostan. Being strongly linked to the sailing world since its creation, it was an obvious match for CORUM to be a partner of this prestigious sailing event as Official Timekeeper. The winner will be rewarded with a CORUM watch, the Admiral’s Cup Challenger 44 GMT, featuring the collection’s legendary twelve-sided case and a second time-zone.
CORUM CEO Antonio Calce said: « I am proud to associate CORUM with this major event. The rebirth of the CORUM brand, which has expressed itself by returning to its roots, has naturally brought us to support the sailing world to which we have always had a strong connection. This partnership is completely consistent with existing partnerships and is in line with the brand’s vision. Besides being legitimate, this partnership is important to me personally, as I feel close to the culture of this region.
We share the same aesthetical values and the passion for beautiful things of life. Both are necessary for a watch brand to rely on in order to develop the market. I am convinced about the brand awareness amongst our clientele in Turkey and will continue to strengthen our presence in this region. ”
The watchmaking brand associates its retailer Fancy in Istanbul with the event, displaying a boutique on the premises, and invites VIP guests to attend the prestigious race.
Admiral’s Cup Challenger 44 GMT Designed for daily wear, the Admiral’s Cup GMT 44 features a 44mm-diameter satin-brushed and polished steel case, framing a pure, understated dial with a date window at 3 o’clock. The second time-zone markings appear around the rim, pointed to by a clearly identifiable red arrow. The black dial is rimmed with a flange bearing the 12 miniaturized nautical pennants serving as a reminder of the collection’s genetic heritage. To secure the case, CORUM has fitted it with a solid screw-down back
engraved with the Admiral’s Cup trophy. The genuine crocodile leather strap is specially designed to ensure optimal comfort. The water resistance is guaranteed to 100 meters.
The mechanical self-winding CO383 movement powers hour, minute, seconds and date functions, in addition to the dual time-zone display. Equipped with an oscillating weight engraved with the CORUM brand name, it boasts a 42-hour power reserve and features rhodium-plated finishes.
CORUM Over the past few years, CORUM has undergone a complete transformation that has enabled it to achieve a perfect match between the products and the demands for quality and creativity that are the very foundations of its credibility. Its firmly upscale move is a logical result of the brand’s efforts to recapture its historical standing while significantly reinforcing its horological substance. CORUM’s substantial investments have led to the integration of watchmaking skills, the development of production tools, the enhancement of human resources and the promotion of staff training. The result is a brand once again entirely in tune with its genetic heritage. Positioned as an exclusive brand, CORUM offers high-quality watch collections featuring an innovative and distinctive design, and equipped with sophisticated mechanical movements. Its actual collection, spread between two key pillars – Admiral’s Cup and Corum Bridges – completed by two satellite collections - Romvlvs and Artisans – enjoy a legitimacy rooted in the brand history.
The full set of collections comprises models at prices ranging from 4,000 to 1 million Swiss francs and giving pride of place to precious metals and horological complications. In 1960, the first interpretation of the Admiral’s Cup model paved the way for CORUM’s success. This model remains thanks to its history, which is inextricably bound up with major sailing competitions and prestigious sailors, as well as for its inimitable esthetic based on a twelve-sided case and a dial set off by twelve nautical pennants. These are its distinctive and unmistakable identifying characteristics. In 2011 the Corum Bridges pillar experiences a substantial evolution with the presentation of an exclusive new creation: the Golden Bridge Automatic with the first linear-winding automatic movement.
