Sherman Oaks, CA - Childhood can be a beautiful and novel time. Every experience for a child is new and absolutely incredible. However, these are also times when children are at their most vulnerable, both mentally and physically. They often make choices which can ruin their lives. Juvenile murder cases and imprisonments are a sign of these wrong choices and mistakes committed by children without any prior intention or knowledge. Real Juvenile Justice aims at providing these children a chance to atone for their mistakes while not having to lose out on their childhood. The life sentence to a child as young as 14 years is an injustice, which the company seeks to fight against with the help of other concerned citizens.
The prison is a very dangerous place for anyone and especially for a child. Imprisoning a child for a crime they do not even properly understand is a crime in itself. This error in the judicial system needs to be rectified. There are many researches and NGOs which have pointed out at the sufferings of children within jails and the risks they face. Many kids often wrongly convicted are sent to a life in prison without parole. This can counteract and send them deeper into clutches of delinquency rather than help them find a more meaningful childhood. This is why there is a need for a cry against the use of life sentences and a life in prison without parole for serious crimes committed by children. The Real Juvenile Justice has the support of well known figures like Rick Kasel, pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch, CA and Mary Ellen Johnson, Executive Director of the Pendullum Foundation. Together they are looking to raise awareness about these unjust practices and take a more sensible and beneficial approach towards handling juvenile justice.
Darrell Griffin is the author of the book ‘Trouble Bound’ and through the blog Real Juvenile Justice portrays the difficulty and injustice of the juvenile delinquency. The belief that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, has remained one of the prime motivators behind this movement. The author is involved in a number of books and articles talking about kids in prison and their struggles with a life in prison without parole and other freedoms. The movement is seeking the support of people and volunteers to provide it with strength and a way forward. This is a chance to help these kids in prison and change the system and give justice a chance. Interested individuals can find more information on www.realjuvenilejustice.com and seek to bring about this change.
