Sachin was very young and naïve when he did his first movie as a child artist Ha Maaza Marg Eekla at the age of 4. As a child actor he also appeared in prominent Hindi films such as Jewel Thief, Brahmachari and Mela. Sachin turned to Indian Television in the '90s, when he directed a superhit Hindi comedy show, Tu Tu Main Main which starred his wife Supriya Pilgaonkar. He faced lot of barriers during his career but he embarked upon them with élan emerging as one of the finest actors of the Indian film industry.
Sachin has also been directing Marathi films since the 80s. He started directing with Mai Baap (1982) which received critical acclaim, but started tasting commercial success only with 1984's Navri Mile Navryala, which also starred his wife, Supriya. Further movies like Gammat Jammat and Maza Pati Karodpati cemented his place in the Marathi film industry. However, he tasted major success in 1988 with Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi, which starred himself and the two reigning superstars of Marathi cinema, Ashok Saraf and Laxmikant Berde. The movie was a runaway hit, establishing Sachin as a hitmaker.
