Gujarat's leading player in the polymers, woven sack bags and fabrics, Rajiv group is eyeing to achieve Rs 1000 crore sales in next five years.

Rajkot, 21 July, 2011: From an initial investment of just Rs. 35,000 three decades back, Rajiv Vastupal has grown his businesses ventures exponentially and today presides over a diversified group, Team Rajiv, which had total revenues of Rs. 550 crore as of March 31, 2011. He has now set his eyes on increasing the group’s turnover to Rs. 1000 crore over the next five years.
The group is a leading player in the polymers, woven sack bags & fabrics, electrical cables & switchgears, light fittings and panel boards. It has an extensive global network with exports to over 10 countries.
Elaborating on the group’s plans, chairman and managing director of Team Rajiv; Rajiv Vastupal said, “With the Indian economy poised for strong growth over the next decade, our group too will grow aggressively. The group’s first target is to cross the Rs. 700 crore sales mark in next 2 years and thereafter we plan to grow to Rs. 1000 crore over the next few years. Our manufacturing as well as trading businesses will contribute to growth in the future.”
Starting with trading in electrical, switchgear, cables, petrochemicals and polymers in the early eighties, the group pursued a strategy of manufacturing panel boards, wires & cables, light fittings as well as woven sack bags and fabrics so as to optimise the benefits of forward integration.
The group’s flagship company, Rajiv Petrochemicals Pvt. Ltd., is a leader in the trading of petrochemicals and polymers. It is one of the largest distributors of polypropylene and polyethylene from Haldia Petrochemicals, PVC resin and EDC from Finolex, polystyrene from LG, polyester film from Jindal and many other products.
Group company; Atlantis Products Pvt. Ltd., has emerged as one of the largest producers of woven sack bags and fabrics in the country with significant part of its sales coming from exports to over 10 countries globally.
Other major companies include Optiflex Industries which manufactures winding wires as well as flat & flexible cables. It is an ISO 9001:2008 certified company by Bureau Veritas/UKAS for quality management system. It has also been awarded an NSIC-CRISIL rating: SE 2A for high performance. Optic Liting Pvt. Ltd. is engaged in manufacturing of lighting products such as architectural fine lights, CFL down lighter, LED spot lights, street lights, outdoor lights and office lighting products. Riddhi Enterprise makes various kinds of panels required by end customers. Trading of electrical switchgear & cables made by leading players like GE Power Controls, Legrand India, HPL India, KEW and Finolex Cables is done under various group companies.
Mr. Rajiv Vastupal is currently the senior vice-president at the prestigious All India Management Association (AIMA). He served Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) as President from 2005 to 2007 and contributed Rs. 50 lakh for building state of the art J. B. Auditorium as a farewell gesture. A generous corpus of Rs. 10 lakh has also been donated to AMA to start Rajiv Vastupal Achievers Academy, where various activities are performed like Diploma in Sales, Achievers’ Award, publications and lectures addressed by achievers. He has recently been awarded the ‘Yuva Hero’ of the year under Yuva Unstoppable forum of Times Foundation by Ahmedabad mayor, Mr. Asit Vora.
He is the founder of Gujarat Chapter, YPO and is Membership Chair of YPO at present. He is also member of the Board of Governors at IIM, Rohtak. He is a very active member of several organisations like CII, GCCI & ASSOCHAM.
