A New Method for Promoting Internet Projects through High-Resolution Webcam Broadcasts
A new method for promoting Internet projects by using web cameras has come about, thanks to St. Petersburg Hotels. For the second year running, webcams are installed overlooking St. Petersburg sights, with live webcasting to the whole world through the company´s website.

Attracted by dazzling views of St. Petersburg, website visitors have tripled in the last year alone - and this growth promises to continue. The number of international visitors and clients is growing as well.
Placed at 47 Nevsky Prospect, a new high-resolution webcam will become a key tool for a flash mob which will take place on 12 August at 4:00 p.m. The flash mob will be broadcast, and soon after uploaded to the video archive, on Vpiter.com website.
During the flash mob, which is timed to coincide with International Youth Day, young men and women from St. Petersburg will read a message to youth the world over. The camera at 47 Nevsky Prospect broadcasts both video and audio, so millions will be able to hear the message (spoken in 35 languages) in their native tongue.
"There are over 25 webcams in St. Petersburg. But what´s unique about the camera at 47 Nevsky Prospect is that it transmits video and video from the heart of downtown - in HD quality," remarked Anatoly Koptev, Press Secretary for St. Petersburg Hotels. "The flash mob will be broadcast on our website and site visitors can watch this unique event unfold. Additionally, they can enjoy a bird´s-eye view of the city from 12 different webcams. We hope that the flash mob webcast will draw attention from the residents of other cities and inspire them to visit Russia´s ´Northern Capital.´"
International Youth Day, which the flash mob is timed to celebrate, was established by the U.N. General Assembly in 1999 as a symbol of the readiness on the part of the global community to tackle the problems that young people face. Flash mobs - in which youth are particularly active - will be held in cities worldwide.
