Suzanne Leder, M.Phil., CPC, COBGC, Manager of SuperCoder.com’s Specialty Content, The Coding Institute (owned by Eli Research), Durham, NC, recently became the ICD-10 Diagnosis and Coding Trainer certified by AHIMA.
ICD-10 is a medical classification for the coding of diseases maintained by the World Health Organization (WHO). All medical practices in the United States are required to implement ICD—10, which is replacing ICD-9, by October 1, 2013. Following the deadline, practices not compliant will have difficulty receiving reimbursements from insurance companies.
She has been the Ob-gyn Coding Specialty Alert editor for six years and counting. Suzanne is a Certified Obstetrics Gynecology Coder (COBGC™). During her coding writing career, she has covered cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, otolaryngology, and physical medicine and rehab. Suzanne has a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina State University and an international Master’s degree in philosophy (M. Phil) from Trinity College Dublin. She became a Certified Professional Coder® (CPC®) through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) in 2004.
