SATLadder, the iPhone app that makes preparing for the SAT fun, was a “featured app” and noted as new and noteworthy under the iPhone Education apps in the App store in August and September.
Students all over the world are downloading the SATLadder test prep tool ( http://www.satladder.com ). It’s an interactive, fast-paced game that shoots SAT-styled questions at players who compete head-to-head against friends or random competitors while answering questions drawn from any of the three sections of the SAT®: Critical Reading, Mathematics, or Writing. By answering the questions correctly and quickly enough, players can climb all the way to the top of the Ladder. The best part? Their SAT® scores will climb with them.
The lite version of SATLadder sells for $0.99 and users can upgrade to the full version for an additional $2.99. SATLadder test prep app ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/satladder/id436961197?mt=8 ) can be found on the iPhone App Store.
SATLadder is a relatively new app on the iPhone App Store, released in May 2011. Its developer is The Learning Edge, an 8-year old Connecticut-based tutoring company run by founder Mark Anestis, who has authored several test preparation books published by McGraw-Hill. Because so many high school students are equipped with mobile devices, SATLadder is the perfect learning tool to complement their ongoing educations, according to Anestis.
“The huge benefit of SATLadder is that it provides quality preparation for the mobile ready,” Anestis says. SATLadder allows students to have a full arsenal of SAT questions at their fingertips.
“Young students are on the move all the time,” Anestis says. “Their mobile devices mean connectivity, allowing them to prepare when they're on the bus for 10 minutes or in-between classes for a few minutes during the day. Students could do 15 questions in those 10 minutes... that's helpful prep time that doesn't require them to set aside 45 minutes to prepare. It doesn’t even require a pencil!”
SATLadder is a versatile app that provides a more dynamic, on-the-move mode of SAT test preparation ( http://www.satladder.com ) that makes it fun to study for the SAT®. It includes over 2,000 SAT® questions with answer explanations and definitions to over 1,000 high-frequency SAT® words. With testing schedules for the SAT exam from October through January, and again in March, May, and June, some student somewhere is preparing for the SAT college exam during the year, and SATLadder will help that student prepare in a fun and dynamic way.
