DALLAS (September 26, 2011) –Just in time for Mesothelioma Awareness Day, the national mesothelioma law firm of Baron and Budd, P.C. is sponsoring Unions.org, a database of over 15,000 union organizations in the United States for more than 25 years. Baron and Budd was selected by Unions.org as the organization’s authorized service provider for legal issues regarding mesothelioma and other asbestos cancer issues. Together, Baron and Budd and Unions.org, along with their affiliate website UnionSmart.org, will provide medical and legal information on mesothelioma and asbestos to union workers to help raise awareness about mesothelioma and the dangers of asbestos.
“Many people do not realize that mesothelioma symptoms can take decades to manifest, or even that it is caused by asbestos exposure,” said John Langdoc, shareholder at Baron and Budd. “Mesothelioma is a rare, but deadly cancer that is usually not diagnosed until it is highly advanced and sadly, the prognosis is usually poor. Despite the fact that mesothelioma is such a terrible cancer, it gets little funding, and the majority of the public are not aware of its existence. We hope that building this partnership with Unions.org will help raise awareness about this cancer.”
Over the past 30 years, the mesothelioma attorneys at Baron and Budd have had the honor of representing numerous union members in asbestos-related matters. The firm also has a long-time relationship with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (ACL-CIO) and has sponsored many of the organization’s events. The mesothelioma lawyers at Baron and Budd also gives back to the community to help raise awareness about mesothelioma and the dangers of asbestos, as well as assist in providing important medical information to patients and their families who are dealing with a mesothelioma diagnosis. The firm has underwritten two books about mesothelioma, The NCCN Patient Guidelines for Mesothelioma from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and Understanding Mesothelioma from CURE media group, the publisher of CURE magazine. To help raise awareness, Baron and Budd has also donated to the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) and the Lung Cancer Alliance.
