Eagan, MN - October 04, 2011 -- St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church in Eagan will hold its second annual "Blessing of the Beasts" on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. The event celebrates the Oct. 4 feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. Presided by Pastor Father Tim Wozniak with assistance from Bogey, his 2-year-old Golden Retriever, the event is free and open to the community. All are welcome.
Pets, animals and critters of all types (including favorite stuffed animals) are invited to attend the event. Last year’s guests included dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles, lizards, hamsters, birds and more. Human attendees can expect an ongoing litany of barks, growls, howls, whines, meows, hisses, squeaks, squawks and other vocalizations (and maybe an occasional “accident”) that can be expected from a Noah’s Ark variety of animals gathered in a house of worship.
