Oasis Eco Group, BC’s leading provider of energy efficient homes is today announcing the launch of the Oasis Powerhouse energy efficient housing development - “Solara Homes” - in Chilliwack, BC.
As one of Canada's leading providers of renewable energy planned communities, the Oasis Eco Group has to date developed a “powerhouse” reputation that’s revolutionizing the industry with a “three-source” energy supply system, namely solar, geo thermal, and wind.
“This revolutionary three-source energy supply system, which has the ability to power homes and pay for itself by reducing or eliminating costly hydro and gas bills, aim is to help home owners make their new homes net-zero homes, meaning their annual energy consumption and carbon emissions add up to zero,” said Archie Guvi, General Manager of Oasis Eco Group.
“This way you can lower your bills and do your part to prevent climate change,” he added.
The Oasis Powerhouse systen, which combines geo/solar thermal heating systems, solar panels and a wind turbine, provides the means for these three sources to flow into an inverter that produces AC energy for electrical use on or off grid.
“We’re simply harnessing new technology to save you money and keep your family comfortable,” noted Archie.
Solar
According to Archie, each Powerhouse has solar photovoltaic panels. Photo-voltaic (or PV) systems use solar cells to convert solar energy (sunlight and ultra violet radiation) into electricity. PV solar power is pollution-free during use, and installations operate for many years with little maintenance or intervention after their initial set-up.
Geo/Solar Thermal
As it relates to its three-source energy supply, Archie said it provides a closed-loop geothermal or solar-thermal system that will provide heating and cooling for your new home. It uses the earth as a heat source in winter and a heat sink in the summer. “Like a refrigerator or air conditioner, these systems use a heat pump to force the transfer of heat,” she said. Setup costs are higher than for conventional heating and cooling systems, but the difference is usually returned in energy savings within 3 to 10 years.
Wind
The third power source attached to each Powerhouse, according to Archie, is a vertical axis wind turbine, chosen because they work without being pointed into the wind and their design keeps generators and gearboxes close to the ground for easy access. When mounted on a rooftop, wind is redirected over the roof and can double in speed at the turbine. Energy produced works with the Powerhouse solar panels to power your home.
However, if you are a home owner who is after alternative energy solution or someone who’s concerned about the environment and rising energy costs, then you need not look any further than the Oasis Powerhouse renewable energy package.
