First of all, make a list of everything that will be going into boxes for moving and storage boxes. Buy a notebook and organize what will be going into each cardboard carton. This will make packing removal boxes a lot easier. Begin labeling all moving boxes for the different rooms in the home and attach lists to all of them.

Try to keep similar items together. For example, pack the light bulbs with the lamps and the bookends with books. Keep wires for a television, music player, or anything else close together. Have a box that is for additional items, such as extension cords, spare cables, and so on and so forth together.
Have one box that has the things that are needed as soon as the truck arrives at the destination. This box should be the last packed on the moving truck so it will be the first taken off. When packing this box, items like a tool kit, coffee maker, telephone, and clock should go in this box, along with any other necessities.
