One of the greatest tragedies of the Christian church today is that it worships a God it does not really know. A new book on worship, Worship 101: Discovering the God We Worship in 101 Ways is seeking to change that by helping us understand who God is. The book was written by Virginia Beach resident, Dr. Christopher Cunningham. It was released recently at a Worship Explosion and Book Launch held at new Life Providence Church in Virginia Beach. The event featured international worship (in different languages), instrumental worship, spoken word selection from the book, a dance, harp and bowl worship and an address by the author.
Worship 101 presents a combination of 101 names, attributes and characteristics of God directly from the Bible (with supporting verses) which may be used to enhance our worship experience. This book, available through Amazon.com or at Fireworkstv.com, is punctuated by several sections of down to earth practical suggestions aimed at moving our worship experience from the superficial to one based on real knowledge, increased reverence and intimacy with God.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Cunningham said “I cannot promise you that Worship 101 will change your life; but it has certainly changed mine, because the more I have discovered who the God I worship is, the more it has affected the way I live my life in every way.” Dr. Chris was ordained as a minister of the Gospel in 2004. He has served in leadership roles in the local church for more than twenty years. He has a passion for prayer, intercession and revival. Worship 101 is his first book.
One of the beautiful qualities of Worship 101 is its universal appeal for Christians of all denominations. Because the major emphasis is on scripture, rather than personal opinions, the book will be attractive to a wide range of believers from the traditional/conservative to the modern/liberal. This book is one that will be valuable to young Christians and inspiring to older ones.
Worship 101 was published by FireWorks International, a Christian ministry and media organization based in Virginia Beach. FireWorks International is a non-profit company that was established for the purpose of “telling the story of the power of the Holy Spirit through all media and the preaching of the Gospel.” The organization is involved in the production of documentaries, teaching videos, books and in direct preaching of the Word of God.
