Blackburn Lancashire - It is expected that hospitality operators will use the functionality to grow wet sales such as “cocktail of the day”. Other ideas include promoting bookings for spa treatments and encouraging dinner reservations.
Spokesman, Tony Raynor, says, “The biggest gains will come from improved occupancy rates. It is no longer adequate to just run a professional operation. Guests are influenced by novelty talking points and Nespresso machines in the bedrooms are played out. There are a limited number of celebrity chefs to talk about but having a conversation point is crucial to recommended business. Our hotel phone systems give something unique.”
Since the advent of mobiles, hotel phone systems have turned from a worthwhile profit centre into a costly burden. The main driver for a hotel having phone systems is now to satisfy the requirement by AA and RAC for phones at the bedside. Frankly, if you aren’t eager to have a star rating then you don’t need hotel phone systems at all.
This technology is delivered to the handsets by an XML server behind your reception desk. Receptionists can update the graphics through the web interface at will. Unlike TV equipment, hotel phone systems are unlikely to be switched off so there is no avoidance of your calls to action by the residents. It’s there 24 hours daily and unavoidable.
Early adopters of these hotel phone systems are probably to be either newly developed venues or units at the higher end of the market. This is because it is essential to have Cat5 structured cabling and an ability for power over Ethernet. First orders are not likely to be implemented prior to Easter 2012.
