The Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) started a new Regional Chapter at Bangalore, covering leading B-schools in Karnataka and Kerala on December 28, 2011. Dr. Hari Krishna Maram was elected as the Chairperson of AIMS Bangalore Chapter.
Dr. Maram is CEO, BIIMS & Imperial College of Business Studies, and Elected Governing Council Member of AIMA (All India Management Association). He has more than two decades of experience in industry and academia.
Talking to MBAUniverse.com, Dr. Maram shared his future plan for AIMS. He said, “We need to increase the number of member B-schools in Karnataka and Kerala, the area which I will chair. The number of B-schools in these states is quite large and hence we would like to have more and more B-schools as the member of AIMS.”
Industry orientation among directors of B-schools is another important aspect, along with industry linkage where the new Chapter will focus. “It is very important for us to know what the industry demands from the B-schools and the students. By increasing the industry oriented approach and the orientation amongst the directors, we would be able to bridge the gap between the industry demands and what the B-schools deliver,” said Dr. Maram.
With the new Chapter, AIMS has also brought some changes in its functioning. “Till now, the functioning of AIMS was centralized. The decisions were taken by the head of the organization. But now, the regional chapters are free to take their decisions,” said Dr. Maram.
The AIMS Bangalore Regional Chapter is organizing a talk on ‘Managing Shareholders Value Creation’ by Professor Emeritus Kavasseri V.Ramanathan, Professor and Former Chairman of Accounting University of Washington Business School on Friday, January 6, 2012 in Bangalore.
AIMS, which was founded in 1988, has grown into a powerful network of about 600 Indian Management Schools of national and international repute. It represents Indian Management Schools in various International forums such as European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA), Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and Global Forum on Management Education. It is officially represented in different government bodies related to Management Education and plays a vibrant policy advocacy role for safeguarding the interests of B-Schools.
