These days kids as young as 7 are carrying the latest mobiles phones unaware of the full potential of the devices that they hold. Currently, iPhones are all the rage, and with the imminent release of the next generation of smart devices, companies are starting the see the potential that these hold and will be looking to incorporate marketing strategies over these platforms.
Phones, PDA’s, and other handheld devices are now considered mini pc’s as you can store vast amounts of information, produce documents, capture images and video, check your emails, but most importantly, browse the internet. This represents unlimited potential for businesses as they can bring their products to the forefront with simple but yet effective advertising.
Making information readily available to user’s means Search Engine Marketing firms are preparing themselves to carry out Strategic Internet Marketing campaigns across this new channel. We are currently in the early stages of development, but already, many of the major players are building applications to bring information closer and more targeted to the user so that they are presented with exactly what they are looking for.
On a PC, you can logon to Google and type in the desired search term and be presented with a set of results that are relevant to what you have searched for. With the right type of search engine optimisation these websites can appear at the top of the results pages for certain terms. The question that business owners are now addressing is if you can do this for use on computers, why not do the same for handheld devices?
Currently, big brand names have already begun creating mobile friendly versions of websites for better viewing across browsers. As people start to access the internet via smart devices, marketing tactics will undoubtedly change, and will be heavily focussed across this exciting channel.
