At Bellarome we understand that food is one of the main attractions to the many holidaymakers that arrive in Italy each year. It’s the food capital of the world and people come in their thousands with the aim of tasting as much traditional food and quaffing as much of the world famous wine as their stay and waistband will allow.
But Italy is a huge country, and if you fancy yourself as a bit of a foodie you are sure to want to stay in a region with plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from.
This is why it makes sense to speak to Bellarome, the leading online provider of customised breaks in Italy. We are a team of experienced Italian travel professionals who know the country better than anybody: so whatever you require from your Italian break or holiday we will tailor your trip to your needs and interests, guaranteeing an unforgettable stay.
The Monti rione of Rome is our favourite place to eat as more and more food shops and restaurants have been opening in recent months. Although it was never short of great restaurants, Monti is fast becoming one of the best food areas in Rome, and perhaps in the whole of Italy.
One of our favourite places to eat is the Antico Forno ai Serpenti, a new bakery on the corner of Via dei Serpenti and Via Panisperna. Owner Mr Alessandro Santomauro’s specialties include delicious breakfast croissants, pizzas and traditional breads. The forno (as the Italians call it) uses the best local products, such as prosciutto and ricotta from the Lazio region, and emphasis here, as in many other Italian eateries, is on quality and locality.
It is common knowledge here in Italy that Monti is a food-lover’s heaven. Visit cosy, family-run trattorie and pizzerias, fine ristoranti or gelaterie; ice cream cafes with the best ice cream in the world. It would be a crime not to visit the various wineries during your stay, as Italy creates some of the finest wines in the world, but if coffee is more your thing there are special bars where you can drink or buy coffee ground and toasted in house.
Situated in the beating heart of Rome, Monti’s appeal is not only in its food. The central quarter is home to the world-famous Colosseum, a wealth of other archaeological sites, beautiful churches, characteristic streets and piazzas.
Daniel Bradnam, partner at Bellarome, said: “Monti has always been popular, it’s the centre of Rome! But we’ve been noticing that it has been attracting an altogether different crowd in recent days: the die-hard foodies. Wherever you go in Monti you are spoilt for choice of places to eat – which is never a bad thing!”
Bellarome offer a personalised service tailored to your interests and requirements. So whether you want a holiday in the heart of Rome, complete with restaurant recommendations from the locals, or something completely different from your Italian experience, our specialised knowledge on a local level means that we should be your first port-of-call for holidays in Italy.
