Page Stationery, a leading online and dealer based retailer of letterpress invitations and custom stationery, has announced today it has converted printing operations for the printing all of its stationery products to run on solar power. This switch provides an environmentally friendly and green solution for its customers searching for eco products. It tackles the problem and frustration of those customers that are environmentally conscious but can't find true eco friendly alternatives when shopping for stationery products such as wedding invitations and personalized stationery. It also sets an environmental mark in an industry that has been notoriously environmentally unfriendly and helps further reduce utility cost and green emissions without affecting turn around times for customers. Growing customer demand for sustainable eco friendly products and a continued frustration with increasing rates from their local utility, Page Stationery opted for a 100% green alternative for the printing division of the company. "Based on feedback from customers we found they want a sustainable green solution when they are ordering letterpress invitations and personalized stationery products,” says Chief Operating Officer Tayllor Johnson. “While doing a large job for Beirne Maynard & Parsons, I realized that large companies also want to reduce their impact on the environment. In turn, I wanted to be able to provide a solution for our customers, help our company lower cost and also reduce our impact on the environment," says Johnson. "We have decided to tackle the alternative energy solution in three phases to help with cost. Phase one was to switch all 5 of their printing presses over to solar power. Phase two is to begin our lighting transition and phase three is for heating and cooling. Environmental credits just don't do it for me," says Johnson. "I want to play an active roll and see the results first hand. Even if my utility offered wind power, I would still want a turbine at our office just so I could see the meter turning," says Johnson.
The luxurious and brilliant designs of Page Stationery are created by designer Sue Corral. Corral is a former Art Director with Martha Stewart Living and Martha Stewart Weddings and a Portfolio Center graduate. Her designs are classic with a modern twist and are based on the design principal that less is more.
In addition to using solar power, Page Stationery is committed to recycling waste papers, and donating papers and boxes to local schools and charities. Page also uses photopolymer plates which require water instead of toxic chemicals in platemaking for letterpress printing. Recycling plastics, metals and turning off devices when not in use are standard practices. Page supports their local organic farmers markets and local organic farming community.
