Major adjustments for the Medicare supplement insurance system come about soon. The established twelve standardized policies will undergo major alterations on June 1, 2010 which include the addition of two brand new plans (M & N) and also the elimination of four others (E, H, I & J).
James Preston, manager of the Medicare Supplemental Insurance Guide, says it is necessary for any individual planning to sign-up or make alterations to Medigap plans to know the alterations.
"There's two innovative policies being brought in by Medicare while quite a few others are going to be no longer out there," said Preston. "The good news is that any plan bought prior to June 1st will not be impacted unless the person wants to make a change."
Several of the other adjustments to Medicare supplemental plans range from the inclusion of a hospice benefit to Medigap Policies A through G and the removal of the home recovery and preventative care benefit from all policies.
